One of our Partners, Angela Jackman, has been invited to be a panel speaker at The Law Society’s Black History Month Inspirational Event. The evening will be a celebration of the achievements of black lawyers in the UK and the contributions they have made to society through their work.
Angela has been invited to talk about her route to success in the legal sector, with the aim of inspiring the audience of mainly students and young lawyers to achieve their goals. Angela’s own story really is one of achieving her full potential – she has practised extensively in the areas of education, community care and capacity law . Angela is also a writer, trainer and lecturer. In June 2009 she was presented with an award for Outstanding Achievement at the Legal Aid Practitioners Group Silver Jubilee awards ceremony.
Angela is certainly a role-model for the young lawyers of today and those who will qualify in the future. She will be joined on the panel by other leading black lawyers and all will be available for a Q&A session to pass on their insights, advice and guidance. Angela says:
"It is very pleasing that the Law Society recognises the importance of Black History Month. By hosting such a prestigious event, it will certainly inspire more black and minority ethnic individuals to pursue careers in a profession which will be enriched by increased diversity."
We are sure the evening will be a resounding success for all concerned and that Angela will be a motivational force for her audience.
