Lisa Hashmi
Lisa trained as a Registered General Nurse at the Mid-Essex Hospitals NHS Trust, qualifying in 1990. She was subsequently awarded a Diploma in Nursing in 1991.
Post qualification, she worked in a wide variety of clinical settings in both the public and private health sector, including acute elderly and general medicine, mixed surgery, intensive care, coronary care and accident and emergency. Lisa has worked as a Nurse both in the UK and Pakistan.
Whilst her children were young, she completed a degree in Nursing Studies and thereafter Postgraduate Diplomas in Law and Legal Practice. She undertook her training contract with Maxwell Gillott, working in both the Education and Clinical Negligence departments.
Upon qualifying as a Solicitor she joined the Greater Manchester Crown Prosecution Service and worked as a Senior Crown Prosecutor, bringing cases before the Criminal Courts.
In September 2009, Lisa was appointed as an Assistant Deputy Coroner within the Manchester (North) jurisdiction. She maintains this appointment alongside her current work commitments.
In January 2010, she returned to Maxwell Gillott having been appointed as a Solicitor within the Community Care Team, specialising in NHS continuing health care funding matters. Her work involves obtaining continuing health care funding assessments (including posthumous assessments) and challenging the outcome of those through the Local Health Boards, Primary Care Trusts and Strategic Health Authority review procedures. She is also currently involved in the training and supervision of other members of the continuing health care team.
Lisa is married and has two teenage children. She enjoys a busy family life, horse riding and travel.
