Lainey Gough
Having trained with the firm Lainey qualified in 2009. Although originally from Ireland, she completed her secondary education in Germany where she was awarded the International Baccalaureate. She has personal experience in working with young people with disabilities and now specialises in education and public law.
Lainey has developed expertise in representing parents at the Special Educational Needs Tribunal and works closely with parents and other professionals in preparing for the appeal hearing. In addition to this tribunal work, Lainey also specialises in admissions and exclusions in particular in relation to children with special educational needs, disability discrimination, transport and other further and higher education work.
More recently, Lainey has taken a number of successful challenges against authorities that fail to provide the therapy outlined in a child’s statement of special educational needs with many of these cases settling without the need for court action.
Lainey also has a strong interest in community care law and works with parents and young people in requesting assessments of their needs, challenging the withdrawal of services and implementing care plans.
Lainey is currently learning British Sign Language and hopes to continue developing her skills in this area. In her spare time she enjoys swimming, cycling and travel.
