Parents can apply for school places at any time of year other than the usual reception and year 6/7 transitions and will do so for a number of different reasons. If you apply for a school and there are places available in the year group in question then a place can only be refused in certain circumstances.
If there are no places available then you should be given the right to appeal to an independent appeal panel in the same way as those applying for admissions for reception and year 7. If you have been refused a place when you think there are places available, the reason for refusal is other than a lack of available places or you are not given the right to appeal we can advise on the matter and whether we consider further action can be taken by way of Judicial Review in addition to advice on an appeal.
